Cubbies - a great way to organize student's work and allow the individual space in the classroom.
Reading Area - having an area with soft carpet and lots of books can be a 'safe place' for some children, especially early-elementary ages.
Behavior Chart - this chart allows for positive and negative consequences to be used for behavior management. If a student exceeds good behavior or does something positive that is out of character, the student may "clip up". Each student has a clip with their name on it. If the student is behaving badly, they "clip down". Each level is self-explanatory but some teachers also use a points system each day. Depending on where the clips are at the end of the day, the student earns points for each section. Calendar Math - bulletin board set up for daily Singapore math. The students in my 5th grade class are able to go up to the board and identify different parts of the calendar in response to the teacher's questions.
Red/Green Cups - these cups are on each table and if a child or group needs help, they flip the cup over to red signaling the teacher to come over and assist.
Cubbies/Mailboxes: Each student is given a number and assigned a 'mailbox' and a cubby. The student can keep things they may do during the school day in the cubby and forms/letters to send home to the parents go in their assigned mailbox.
Standards: Standards are placed on colorful paper and hung along the wall to remind the teachers, students and observing administration what is being taught.
Hula-Hoop Clock: Place the hula-hoop on the board and label as clock. Great hands on and visual way to teach telling time!
New Student Pack: A pack of important forms and papers from the school that new students may need to have. Welcomes new students in a fun creative way! Milk Jug Organization: Use half gallon milk jugs to organize colored pencils!
Ping Pong Rewards: Write different class rewards on ping pong balls and allow students to choose when the class has excellent behavior!
